It's a .32, very weak bullet. My uncle was a cop for like 35 years (we don't really talk much) but a .22 rifle bullet can pierce these vests, as will almost all RIFLE bullets. Pistols are a whole different thing though, due to the bullet not spinning as much. The vest is designed to keep things like .45 or 9mm from going through, the main idea being whatever the cop carries can't hurt him, for example a .40 caliber glock more than likely won't pierce the vest. Getting hit with a .45 bullet wearing this for example, will knock you on your ass and break your ribs or wherever it hit, it's still usually a hospital scenario you'll probably live through. But this little .32, that welt looks about right and at the end you can see it *almost* went through the vest.
