Poe Red, Frank Zappa and Italian exploitation movies had ruined me long before this place had a chance.

What was Poe Red? When did it shut down?

Poe Red was the original portalofevil.com. Basically, imagine if we did features on websites and people's geocities accounts instead of video clips.

It kinda went away because the web changed. Instead of making black and red websites with spinning skull animated gifs and bad poetry, emo kids started crying on webcams on youtube. Furries began congregating on deviantart instead of making entire websites dedicated to their 'fursonas', and so on.

Poetv honestly carries on the exact spirit of portalofevil as we're still showcasing the same things, really. It's just now we're laughing at their live webcam feed instead of their 'private' geocities poetry journal.

More unnecessary info: You may have seen on here once or twice someone mentioning the 'prime directive' of poe when it comes to dealing with a youtube personality or something. That would be a 'look, but don't touch.' kind of mentality. The idea was that while the goons at something awful might find some idiot's site and leave 200+ comments like 'lol fart fart fart!' in their comment book (or these days, spam the youtube comments with that crap I guess.), poe members would resist the temptation and leave the site untouched, hopefully without the user ever even knowing they were featured somewhere, thus preserving the crazy for the next viewer.

For some reason the poe proper page I remember most is Dogslut's MY SELF CASTRATION. With the yellow background and green and pink letters and matter of factly explanations and mind-scarring photographs.

I don't remember the name, but I always liked the homepage for the really racist guy that ran a taxi service from his sedan.

My favourite was the mantaur site that had horrific man/beast photoshoped gay porn. It was the craziest trainwreck of a site. Trying to trick co-workers into clicking on a link to that site was one of our office games.

Also since we're on this subject, I was once really good friends with a girl whose father remarried to a stepmother who she described to me over the years as "pure evil". She refused to live with them and the stories continued of this woman's insane greed.

It culminated with the police finding out that her father and his new wife had been keeping her mentally retarded sister tied to a chair in their basement and collecting the money that the girl inherited from their dead father. Both sisters inherited so they didn't even need the money. They were well off enough, but the money that was supposed to go to 24 hour care went towards other things like jewelry.

And then they went to prison.

People are fucked up, man.

I've talked about my kid before on this site. I'll be honest with you guys, they were a surprise, and not one I was ready for. But after all the initial excitement was over, I found really quickly that I loved them, and would do just about anything for them.

My point in all this is that I literally cannot understand how people can do this kind of shit to their own kids. Mine was a surprise, and I would never say I don't want them, let alone even fathom something like this or the shit in the video.

Humans who hurt children aren't people.
