It's 'Forging' in the sense that making a pine derby car is the same as building a real car.

The difference between this and a QVC 'collectors' sword is that those guys make molds of the complex bits after milling an original.

The video is painfully dorky, and the end result is the metal diaper for a man-baby, but there's not really anything in the making of the sword part that is particularly different than it's been done for 500 years. The only things that've really changed are the power sources for the tools... And well, they didn't use contact grinders then, they had huge fucking stones that had a habit of exploding, but they had belt-powered grinders all the same. They were just powered by a river instead of electricity.
