Sadly, this is another job I could see completely automated in the very near future, just because it might shave off a half a second.
Yet Jiffy Lube can take 15 minutes to tell me why I need my AC flushed and why my transmission fluid isn't pink.
I think watching McLaren would have been more interesting.

Driver pulls in and says about 2 sets of "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon"s before he on his way again
The car pulls up quite slowly compared to race pace, making this seem easier than it is.
3 seconds is the current average to aim for, the record during a race is 2.3 seconds.
Oh and in that frantic pace, if you screw up the threading, or the bolt doesn't take when you think it has, and the car is released...wheel falls off.
they cannot recover the car once it leaves the pit to fix it. It has to be able to make the whole lap at a fast enough speed so the marshals don't deem it a hazard and flag it off the track.
It happens, and I cannot imagine how much it sucks to be the guy that screws up.
