That's actually kind of an interesting comment. I remember that The Professional was one of the most widely panned anime movies of it's time. Keep in mind that this movie was from 1983 and I was reading publications from 1996 and on.

I'm two-thirds sure I've watched this movie before (but for the life of me I don't remember this part), and while I had it's fair share of bad anime moments, it wasn't nearly as bad as the old Fist of the North Star and Vampire Hunter D movies. Those things literally gave me a headache during viewing.

If only there was someone within the community that was knowledgeable on the topic of anime and that could suggest a good place to start. Probably a long shot around here.

Basically, if you ever try to shoot Duke Togo (codename: Golgo 13) in the face, the only thing that will happen is that he'll get a scratched cheek.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up the entirety of this character.

He will humbly stand there in ..... silence while a rotating cast of disposable characters go on in long monologues how much of a genius he is.

He's an assassin. He kills people with whatever he has on hand. Duke Togo is also an extremely good shot - even in instances when the wind or the Coriolis effect would prevent him from hitting his target, Duke hits the guy and gets the job done with only one bullet.
