I think it's more like he alludes to at the start - the HURR HURR TELL US IN YOUR FLOWERY LANGUAGE HOW MUCH IT RUINED OUR BELOVED FRANCHISE chant from the crowd can be kinda off-putting. So, he turned it into an attack on the whole series instead. His niche has been built on more-than-occasionally stomping on peoples' beloved games, not just being the attack dog, and given the press right now, that's like a Phantom Menace review spending the entire time taking shots at Jar Jar.
What did he say about the franchise that he didn't like? I got the impression that he liked previous versions, but not this one (for some list of unfathomable reasons culminating in the resignation of EA's CEO).
Origin used to be a company that made some of the most influential games of all time. EA swallowed it up and now it's been dissolved into a shitty download service.
Diablo III is a broken piece of shit because of its always on DRM, but EA's taken no hints from Blizzard.
He has every right to be angry with EA, for thousands of reasons beyond what was stated in the video.
Back in the dawn of time when 8 bit microcomputers roamed the steppes, EA was responsible for bringing about some of the more novel and imaginative games by empowering developers and small workshops. So I still get a pain everytime I see the EA logo and remember when they were good, and why it's okay to hate them.
I hate them for other, better reasons, but you get more hipster cred for "Remember when EA was good?" than "Fuck I can't believe I fucking paid for Madden 07 one goddamn week before they shut down all the servers to force everyone to buy Madden 08"
The irony of Gmork wondering why the prospect of interacting with someone else via the internet in the slightest is heavy enough to generate its own gravitational field.
