I can't say I've ever heard of him before, but links to it have been circulating around gameFAQs, with discussions about how awesome games like KOTOR and Lego Star Wars were, how could Disney do this, etc. I just can't bring myself to click any of the suggested videos, this was painful enough.

He's nothing too special. He mainly got his fame from when TAA basically gave him a shout out.

Lucasarts made some amazing shit. You only need to look at the lucasarts tag to understand (there's your tag suggestion, by the way). It is sad, but those days are long in the past now.

LucasArts *was* a respected game company who *made* some amazing games. But they've been resting on their laurels for longer than some of their target demographic has been alive, so sad as it is, getting rid of them makes total sense.

This isn't RARE dying, suddenly and tragically, at the top of their game, this is a pampered vegetable going off life support because it's new, wicked stepmother doesn't want the family footing the hospital bill.

The last lucasarts game i played was The Force Unleashed.

I'm sad to see it go, even if the company that would take strange risks was long gone. I feel about this sort of the same way I felt about Interplay dying; sad that it came to this inevitable point. Disney just getting better companies to do Star Wars games is what should have happened ages ago, though. I thought it was with JK2 / KOTOR / etc., but then they started making their own awful Star Wars games again.

I loved me some LucasArts Adventure games back in the day. 20 Years ago, they were an awesome company that made awesome games. Today, they haven't done shit in years. The game most nerds are defending them by is The Force Unleashed, which is a God of War clone, and okay at best.

The only real surprise about this is that it didn't happen far sooner.

As long as those old games remain available to purchase or legally acquire in some form, I've no go complaints. This is Disney we're talking about, though. I'd hate to see the Monkey Island remasters get yanked off Steam over some new distribution rights bullshit.
