(Season 2 is excellent, probably my favorite season overall. Hurricane Fluttershy alone more than compensates for the lifetime of anti-pony bias I accumulated because of the 1980s MLP series)

waugh fulfills a small but neccesary role in the POEtv machine, that of the "hater who waits." This antagonist declares his utter contempt and distaste for Group A, but instead of distancing himself from said Group and having as little interactions with them (as would be expected), he instead insists on hanging around, and even *contributes* to the group, camouflaging his submissions with vitriol and hate-filled diatribes. But, they are contributions nonetheless, and make their way out of the hopper quite quickly due to their intrinsic energy and value. Waugh is not exactly a classic troll, but he does bear many of said trolls' distinguishing characteristics; baiting, spewing, and personal attacks to name a few. But within this role, he is quite comfortable, in fact he seems to take it on completely unironically, presenting himself as the classic hater/troll who cannot be reasoned with. It is a classic role, and having looked into the abyss that is POE and the abyss have looked back, quite steadily, Waugh's role is already incorporated into the POEtv machine.

I want to say Waugh is autistic with a non conformist edge. But that might be insulting.
