As a born and bred Minnesota native, I can say that this scene truly does capture how incredibly dull rural Minnesota is. The gigantic grain elevators in the back seal the look perfectly.
Also, the last names in this scene are all the names of microscopic rural Minnesota towns.
Love this movie, you betcha.
That guy by the lake could use a Prairie Home Companion.
