I wonder when this starts happening in America. Probably not with businessmen but with government officials; there are five Supreme Court justices who probably need to start fearing the public after killing the Voting Rights Act today.

B. Weed - 2013-06-26

A lot of Texas Republicans too-- we hope.

Deplorable - 2013-06-26

Seriously, when are we going to start doing this shit? Though I'm sure the government would bring more than food and water.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2013-06-26

We won't. The rich have already convinced the lower classes of the Divine Right of Wealthy People, and most of the factories in China are there because the ones in the U.S. are already closed.

SolRo - 2013-06-26

between every union being wiretapped and almost guaranteed swat raid if a rich person is taken hostage, chancer are between 1% and 0%

About 4 years ago a friend of mine got bme some extra work at a call center that did surveys (no cold calling at least, but it was still shitty). Three weeks later, without an warning, 15 minutes before closing time on the Friday before the Thanksgiving vacation week, they sent someone in to tell the general manager - who had two kids and a mortgage - that he was fired, they were moving the center to India, and he had to fire 65 people working under him in the next 10 minutes. I had another job but a lot of people there didn't. about half a dozen of them somewhat seriously discussed staying in the office and refusing to leave, but in abut 10 minutes they decided they'd rather go out and get drunk.

That's what it's like when this happens in New England.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-06-26

I think at least riots are coming.

Americans know how to destroy shit. We just don't do the smart thing and go after the rich like they do in like, everywhere else. We believe in taking it out on those that can barely afford their convenience stores.

Old_Zircon - 2013-06-26

Of course riots are coming, it's almost football season.

memedumpster - 2013-06-26

Had this been an American factory, the owners would have been untouched. The workers, being of two different political parties, would have killed each other in the name of fucking over the owners instead, then blamed each other when that didn't work.

baleen - 2013-06-26

"I think at least riots are coming."

On average, there are about 1,000 riots in China a year. Just as this news came out, in fact, 28 rioters were killed in Western China.

My favorite riot story dates back several years. They were going to build another useless office park in rural China as part of Beijing's endless incompetent eminent domain scheme, when hundreds of farmers destroyed the project. They sent the army in, and the farmers flipped over a TANK. All the government had to say was, "We know who did this and they will be held responsible." China is doomed, and so is the global economy. I have had this nagging suspicion for years that hijacking capitalism from the inside ("hanging them from the ropes we make them") has been Beijing's intent this whole time.

A billionaire CEO, a union worker, and a middle American sit down to a table of 20 cookies. The CEO grabs 18 cookies while the other two are left with one.

The CEO then leans over to the middle American and whispers, "The union guy wants a piece of your cookie!"

What really fucks this country though isn't just Republicans. The core demographic of people who should be pissed off, young people, are trapped in the "both parties are the same" mindset and think they will bring the whole system crashing down by staying home not voting.

It is also wishful thinking that Republicans will die off and fade away. As soon as changing demographics make it viable, I guarantee you they'll find a way to co-op Latinos the way they did Christianity.

baleen - 2013-06-26

They've successfully co-opted the Latino vote by being open to Latinos. They'll have to shed some sacred caucasian cows if they really want to do that again. The Latino demographics themselves have changed drastically since the last time the GOP came close to widdling the Dems' lead with la Raza down to around 60%.

White Cubans, once mighty delivers of Florida to the most anti-Castro pol, are more likely to vote Republican than a Mexican immigrant that has been voting leftish his entire life. There's more of those guys now, and more of them are voting than ever before. Perhaps when the new flock becomes entrenched middle class, the GOP can cater to their Catholic conservatism, but again, sacred cows.

baleen - 2013-06-26

Different apples are being given to two opposing parties, followed by the question, "Do you appreciate both varieties of these apples?"

chumbucket - 2013-06-26

His just dessert. Screw this guy.

chumbucket - 2013-06-26

Wow didn't even notice the tags when i wrote that.

GovtCensor - 2013-06-26

Jesus. What do these people think they are, Communists?

Riskbreaker - 2013-06-26

LISTEN PAPI, IM GONNA TAKE MY SHIRT OFF

The Mothership - 2013-06-26

The labor movement in the early part of the last century in the US was ugly, violent and got results. China and India will likely have a similar experience.

Jeriko-1 - 2013-06-26

HAHAHA!

The Chinese had thousands of years of repression they said! They are beat down, subjugated robots they said! We can just stack them into Borg Cube bunkhouses placed 20 high they said! They know that if they so much as LOOK at us they'll be beaten half to death and chucked on the streets they said!

That last part really churns my stomach because that's real. They have their Plantation Owner RP that's anything BUT RP over there. The workers are -forbidden- to look at them. You cast your fucking gaze down in their presence or else. Because I guess it's a power fantasy to see yourself as an ascended grand pubaa that would be made to fill filthy if tainted with the gaze of low born peasant rabble.

Sanest Man Alive - 2013-06-26

That whole "lower your eyes" thing goes back to the Imperial court. The only thing that's changed since Communism was ending the imperial dynasties for good so the real powers behind the scenes could operate in the open.

Udderdude - 2013-06-26

I'm racin' to the bottom in my shiny racecar.

Binro the Heretic - 2013-06-26

He insists he's not trying to skip out of the country without paying the workers, this is all just a big misunderstanding.

It was a simple clerical error that led to a lot of the laid-off people not getting their last paychecks. And another one that led to some of the suppliers not getting paid for their last shipments. And another one that led to the people who supply the food for the cafeteria not getting paid for their last delivery.

And he's not liquidating everything and shutting the whole factory down. It will remain open and people will still have their jobs. He just sold some "surplus" equipment and non-essential things....like the trees planted in the landscaping around the factory.

Seriously, the dude had the trees dug up and sold.

But he's not liquidating the factory to set up shop in India, honest!

pastorofmuppets - 2018-08-01

The sad thing is he could be "right" in that his plastic business won't be competitive unless a lot of people get screwed. I can't imagine the margins on Chinese plastic are very high. Not defending him, but I feel like things are such that if you removed him another robber baron would take his place. We really love our plastic shit.
