Neil Patrick Harris AND the Offspring?
What is this?
Why, NPH? Why?
Those who voluntarily watch this movie don't have much intelligence to spare.

did I hear John Oliver make a bad joke in there?
Yeah, John Oliver trying to defend the movie while clearly hating it is one of the better things in some episodes of The Bugle. I was more surprised that he was willing to say a pun what with his anti-pun stance when Andy gets going on a pun run. To that end: The Dog based pun run is one of the best things from The Bugle.

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.
Although that now applies to the entire world.
A big part of the dumbing down of Hollywood can be attributed to the growing international market really shrinking the lowest common denominator.
Remember when kids' movies had a message and weren't afraid to use tough love to show it? I feel bad for this generation not having their own Watership Down.
I can't 5 star this. I just can't.
This isn't really any worse than the bulk of awful 60s/70s kiddie show matinee crap and live action Disney movies, it jut has a higher budget and that makes it harder to laugh at.
It takes effort to make a movie that offensively insulting to the intelligence of toddlers and the Smurfs simultaneously.
Guys, there's Haribo Smurfs now on American grocery store shelves.
This movie could be four hours of people vomiting on each other while an out of tune oboe plays in fuzzy 3-D that artifacts with every move. It has resulted in the sale of Haribo Smurfs within driving distance of me, personally, and for that, I welcome it's existence. I won't see it, and I won't suggest to any of my friends or loved ones that they should see it, but it's served it's purpose, and handily.
That's cool, but I'm betting it's just whoever had the original molds decided they could make a buck again.
Now if this leads to a resurgence in the original books by Peyo, that might be "a thing."
DUDE HARIBO SMURFS ARE MY FAVORITE CANDY OF ALL TIME. If you never got candy in europe i feel bad for you son cause i ate smurfs and regrets i have some

Gargamel is obviously not a poeTV-ite.
It's always fun to hear John Oliver get the piss taken out of him, on The Bugle podcast, over the films he has chosen to appear in.
andy is so ruthless, i wish more podcasts were like the bugle. Edited to cut the shit out. Marc Maron made everyone think you can just talk about bullshit and everyone will just listen.
It's the fucking smurfs. It's not as if this movie was based on some highly sophisticated source material.
If all you know is the 80's cartoon, then yeah, I could see that. It's still crap even if that's the "source" they're using.
My childhood Smurfs experience involved a record with a giant bearded dutch man.
The 80s cartoons were nearly as unwatchable as a kid as this is as an adult, but yeah, the books are a whole different story.
Hey now the zombie episode was pretty boss, back before they were played out. In fact, no other zombie story had really done the "exponential growth porn" thing aside from Return of the Living Dead.
It looks worse than the first.
Thats quite a feat.
This is Jonathan Winters' final film.
Let that sink in for a while.
Could be worse.
Pat Morita's last film was "Royal Kill". Never heard of it? Good. Keep it that way.
Its a for kids. When I was a kid I watched the original cartoon. This is probably much better than that so IDK why everyone here is so up in arms unless you regularly watch entertainment for children... wait I am starting to understand
You know, it is possible to make children's entertainment that is not complete banal crap.
I don't have any kids, so it's easy for me to not give a shit, but if I did have children I would hope there was some entertainment for them that 1) tried to tell an actual story and wasn't just 90 minutes of condescending time-filler, and 2) I could stomach sitting through with them.
"It's for kids."
Yeah, go look up the trailer for the first one. The Smurfette sex jokes are so for the wee ones.
