Does shit like this scare the shit out of anyone else? No? Ok then. Five stars.
Bort - 2013-07-01
It's unsettling to me as well.

The freshly-rising-from-the-horizon-moon used to scare the shit out of me when I was younger. Not so much anymore.

Now, if one of these planets actually orbited Earth, and we were treated to, say, Jupiter with the same blood red tint as it rose, then I'd probably stay the fuck inside for 28 days out of the month.

I take it back. Jupiter would never be obscured by Earth's shadow, so I'd probably just never leave the house.

Albuquerque Halsey - 2013-07-01
Moon phases are cause by our changing viewpoint of the moon, not earths shadow. also, the earth would be tidally locked to Jupiter, so all that you would need to do is move to the antipodal side of the earth.

il fiore bel - 2013-07-01
Yeah, well, do you know the exact hours Jupiter would be visible at any point in the sky, from any position on earth, and the daily rise and set of the planet itself??? I think NOT, smart guy THHBBBBBBBBBPPPPPPPPPPPPTHTHTHHTH

When I was younger I'd have dreams about huge planets hanging in the sky.

Nightmares, but yes, me too. Planetary disasters.

I'm more impressed by Saturn. Look at those gorgeous rings!

That must be a recurring news story. I swear MSN has pimped it at least twice in the last year. Though I guess it still makes them a little late to the game.

Burnov - 2013-07-01
I would be curious about any potential errant debris from the rings being potentially flung our way as a result of collisions with other errant celestial objects.

As Saturn is hanging there in majestic glory, Titan goes whizzing by all "Hi guys!"
