I remember AOL cutting out when getting songs from Napster in the 90s, which resulted in fun 30-90 second versions of songs.
I never had this because I had the sense to check the file size before I downloaded a song. It works out nicely at something like 1 megabyte / minute for most songs at 256kb/s.
Porn is where you really had to be cautious.
