Seriously though, it's amazing this film was ever made. 7 years in the making, with an attention to detail one would think the Japanese animation industry had forgotten in the past decade, especially in regards to theatrical releases, I found it truly exciting, like nothing I've found in anime has excited me in awhile, a proper blend of kinetic energy, music, design and a bold style...it keeps up the pace, there are no heaping gobs of the worst sort of "As you know, Bob..." expository blabber delivered via money-saving close-ups that attempt to make up for gaping plot holes.
Watch it on DVD on a big screen if you can, even though it still can kick your ass through Youtube.

I'm inclined to agree. Granted the sex metaphors get kinda ridiculous in the last bit, the whole thing is a feat of animation. At the same time, please tell me you've seen Summer Wars and Tekkonkinkreet WWD.

Anime has been producing some fine material over the last few years. Summer Wars, Wolf children, The Girl who Leapt Through Time, the Madoka movies, Redline. That's just to name a few off the top of my head, and just limiting it to movies. There's plenty of fine anime out there, far more than you'd think if you only listen to the people who whine about it in one form or another.

Cam you have such awful taste in anime. Awful!
