I know I must have seen this movie at least 2 or 3 times as a kid in church, but I honestly don't remember any of this. That's how powerfully my memory blocked it out.

Isn't it funny that since Stand By Me made money they made movies like this and Little Marines for a whole decade?

What, no footage of Eldon's patented earthquake stomp???
I didn't see this movie until I was an adult, and then only because every thrift store in town has at least three copies so curiosity finally got the best of me. This highlights compilation barely scratches the surface on how hilariously earnest this film is.
Someone please post the far inferior sequel, "The Secret of Treasure Mountain," where the Buttercream Gang gets involved in an ersatz Goonies plot as they search for lost Spanish gold.

Curse those pesky suburban white gangs and their school dance crashing antics. Oh, the humanity.
I think every public school in the L.A. Unified School District was issued a copy of this VHS tape at some point, because I went to three different elementary schools in said district, yet every year of elementary school from second grade to fifth grade, there was one really rainy day where we ended up staying inside during lunch and recess and watching this snorefest.
And yet, I still don't remember any of the scenes in this video.

gravelstudios - 2013-07-13 I think it must be some kind of psychological phenomenon that nobody who saw The Butter Cream Gang as a kid remembers it as an adult. It should be called the Butter Cream Syndrome.

I love that the plot summary on wikipedia is about as long as the plot summary for War and Peace.

Fur is Murder - 2013-07-13 from said Wikipedia page:
'To conclude the movie, the entire town (13 people), sing Pete's favorite commercial lyric "You got the right one baby! Uh-huh, uh-huh".'

Definitely saw this in church at some point. Those suburban kids had some dark times.

You know, all these years later I still can't see the word "buttercream" without thinking of that Lord Rexington Fear song.
