It's like, I could believe that King Minus is just sending everyone to another dimension rather than killing them with the power of subtraction, but the problem is that you can see that the dragons leave ashes behind after they disappear, implying they're consumed and killed, so I presume the same is true for the princess, the horse, and himself. Ergo, suicide (plus manslaughter of the princess).
