Fuck me, is this really a thing?

There's no way I'm getting dragged to the theaters over this, but I might download it just for old time's sake.

Is there any way we can tax Metallica, and then redistribute the money they're pissing into this movie, over to GWAR?

Monkey Napoleon - 2013-08-06

These guys are the kings of making you think for half a second that they might get back to 1988 fighting strength, before ultimately letting you down... and I think this trailer has finally and forever dashed any hope of them ever being good again for me.

I can forgive the 90's stuff because the 90's were a weird time for music, and they closed it out with arguably one of the best live albums of all time. I can forgive St. Anger and related doc because, hey, it's a rehab album and doc. People have done that and come back from it. Death Magnetic is an album I categorize as mediocre, and probably the best studio album since Metallica, but they promoted is a return to the 80's which it was not.

And then there's this. Also, people make fun of Hetfield a lot and I don't disagree with them but pretty much anything live in the past 10 years or so shows a progressive steep decline in any of them actually giving a shit about what they sound like. It's worse than the jokes is what I'm saying.

I don't think I've ever thought that about Metallica. The "get back to fighting strength" thing, I mean. I've thought the rest, as have we all, I imagine.

S&M was excellent, and I actually liked Load - which is a bit perverse, because I never got that into ...And Justice. But I Disappear was the end for them, and nothing that came after surprised me in the least.

(I make fun of Lars a lot more than I make fun of James)

They never recovered from how far they fell with Ride the Lightning. Every Metallica album since the beginning was only half as good as the one before. And Justice was their swan song, they've done nothing since.

It's almost funny seeing how Metallica went and alienated all their old fans over the course of a few decades. Metallica was bad far more than they were good.

BLOOD OCEAN

Stopheles - 2013-08-06

The Metallica action movie has a tour van rolling over.

EvilHomer - 2013-08-06

Too soon, man, too soon.

Jet Bin Fever - 2013-08-07

What a bunch of wankery.

Hooker - 2013-08-07

Although I won't download it, I think I'll pirate this on principle.

Hooker - 2013-08-07

Although I won't watch it, rather.
