Man, I don't know if really liking this kills any POETV cred, but I do. It's so incredibly awkward! I feel bad for watching it, it seems like such a personal moment. Plus, I bet it's SUPER hard to sob uncontrollably while still carrying a tune.

You lose no cred. I thought this movie was very good (except I thought Russell Crowe's voice wasn't quite up to par). Sometimes this place tends to forget that different people have different tastes. When everyone is trashing something I really like, I generally just ignore them.

I am a huge sucker for this scene. Unironic 5 stars.

LIKE DIS IF U CRY EVRY TIME

Didn't see the movie-- she looks pretty bummed out though. Good job acting.

There was a giant 10 minute long behind the scenes preview of this when I went to see Dredd. Talk about missing the target audience.

I think I prefer Donny and Lalah.

Could have used some dubstep drops. Punch the thing up a bit, Hollywood!

Wait, in the director's cut, Siegfried shaved Agent 99 and put her in a dungeon? Christ.

I still love the cognitive dissonance of turning a novel about how fucking awful class war, social injustice, and poverty was in 1800s France into a musical with PRETTY PEOPLE and PRETTY MUSIC and dumbing the whole thing down so that people who can barely read cereal boxes can pretend to have some emotional connection to a novel they couldn't even begin to comprehend without Cliff's Notes.
I'm sure it's what Victor Hugo would have wanted.

EvilHomer - 2013-08-25

Victor Hugo was a lousy Frog, who cares what he'd think.

Unless it was HOW BEST TO SURRENDER TO THE NAZIS, amiright?

I know people who think one of the messages of the Hunchback of Notre Dame novel is "it's wrong to pursecute gypsies" instead of "gypsies are scum! Except Esmerelda, but only because [spoiler:] she was actually a Whitey McWhiterson named Agnes."
