As "amateur hour" as this local newscast might look, I do like that this is a clip from back when local TV news broadcasts in Canada had their own distinct identities and theme music (i.e. in the case of Montreal, on the English side of things, PULSE on the CTV affiliate vs. NEWSWATCH on the CBC station). Today, local CTV and CBC news broadcasts (where they still exist), plus Global, are all tied to the national "brand", without much of any identity of their own other than the city skyline in the backdrop.
I presume the assets of this studio were either absorbed into Nelvana or the then-upcoming CINAR behemoth (which eventually had embezzlement problems, was purchased by some former Nelvana people and became Cookie Jar Group, which, in turn, was purchased by DHX Media last year).
