The cheapness works for it until you see the aliens.

Wow, I remember seeing this aired on TV when I was about 11 or 12. Back then I was really into aliens and certainly believed what I saw from my 12" TV with grainy reception. I grew out of that phase, but its amazing how people still believe this tape to be showing an actual abduction.

It also doesn't really work because it features a POV character who drags a camera with them through the whole thing no matter what, which is problematic even in this age of compact camcorders but perhaps moreso in 1989 - which is something that really ticks me off about a lot of these found footage films, the people who keep recording even as they're hiding from a monster or are about to be eaten - it's a little too remincent of horror stories that are supposed to be a first person recollection the narrator is writing down and it ends with him or her going "-oh no! The thing is at the window! A hideous face, a giant claw reaching for me! No! No! N-"

I'd seen the last 30 seconds when the camera's cutting out and then you see the 2 aliens presented as "real" on Youtube alien conspiracy videos and always wondered what it was from. Thanks for posting the whole thing.

Love this. Remade in the 90's as "Incident at Lake County", featuring a young (and super hot) Emanuelle Chriqui. I've exchanged emails with the director, who says the rights are in limbo on this, and so no DVD any time soon.

I love how one of the top youtube comments insists that this is real.

It's often that, or insisting that this (along with the 1998 made for tv remake) are fakes made by "them," and that the "real" version is being suppressed.
