White people real talk: Who here has witnessed a instance of White Privilege?

Just the latest experience I've had, I've been asked by superintendents on a training day if I'm actually the teacher in the special education teacher for my school. I'm actually the teacher's aid, and when I said, "No I'm not in charge", I was still treated as such.

My teacher is Filipino and has never been asked that question, nor has been treated as such.

*program for my school.

That isn't white privilege, that's a wrong application of the label.
White privilege would be if the school district actually paid you more. You're just working for a racist. That doesn't actually mean you have any privilege.
White people should know the meanings of words, after all... a white man invented the dictionary.

In New York when I was hard up for money I was told by a retired cop who was trying to get me a job as a flag man for construction sites that his friend had "a bunch of niggers" working for them and that they didn't know how to work, so he thought I would do better. It was the worse compliment I've ever had in my life. I didn't bother to pursue the job.

I have also worked in advertising, which is notoriously white.

The thing about white people is that they can afford to ignore everyone else. Immigrants and ethnic minorities cannot wander through life with such insouciance, they cannot simply walk into an established white work environment without knowing anything about whiteness, without a feeling of total alienation. I would feel the same alienation if I walked into an all-black environment. I would feel like I couldn't advance, or that I didn't get the jokes or references by the cooler, or I was always doing the wrong things with body language. I would have to adopt a persona utterly different from myself if I wanted to function in this hypothetical African American advertising agency, unless my coworkers were very open minded and outgoing toward different people. That is normally not the case.

That's funny about advertising, as non-white markets are the ones that are ripe for entry-level advertising for basic products. I used to do ad-stuff myself, and about 10 years ago they were JUST starting to tell the sales staff about going for the immigrant market and toning down the flash-bang stuff that might confuse those never exposed to clever slogans (which were a gamble being translated from English anyway) to just having a basic message of what service/item was being offered, that it was a quality deal, and who to call/visit for it.

I walked to the convenience store, and got a beverage and some snacks. Nobody stalked me, confronted me, and shot me.

White privilege is often in the stuff that DOESN'T happen.

White privilege is so 2008. Where's the discussion about Westerner Privilege? I prefer to experience my cultural guilt over the dirty little brown people we DON'T kinda sorta treat barely human.

y'know, because some of us really deal with serious shit and not just "my daddy may or may not have touched my butthole and i dunno which one's worse, oh my god, gimme some pills now " If you are gonna make fun of political correctness or issues of race or racism, make sure it is funny.
