The hell ever. I quite enjoyed both the old games and the new one. The greatest complaint i heard was that the protagonist was a douche. People seemed to forget that he was always a douche. Other than the aesthetic change, it was still the same old game. And some of the level design was fucking fantastic.

Well, I thought DmC was bad, but it's not nearly as disastrous as it was made out to be. Just gamers getting themselves whipped up into a lathery frenzy over one of their favorite folk demons (western developers ruining Glorious Nipponese IP).

Having tried to stomach the DMC series, I'd highly question your use of the word "glorious."

The setting makes little sense, even for a Japanese fantasy world where you have everything from firearms to oversized swords, plus, as stated, everyone is an unlikable asshole.

Fuck all of you, this game had a boss battle with O'Riley's giant talking head that attacks you with a wall of noise. Nothing you can say will ever convince me it wasn't awesome.

Steam, "Glorious Nippon" is an old meme referring to Japanophiles' overvaluing of anything Japanese, I'm aware the DMC series was always trashy.
