The Tea Party is the culmination of several GOP "strategies" that are now coming to a head.
1. Embrace fanatics, especially the religious right, to cling to power.
2. Gerrymander districts so only the looniest wingnut will win, but at least they'll have an (R) after their name.
3. Keep using emotional and inflammatory language to fire up the base, apparently forgetting that not only the base, but many of the Bachmann-types the party elected, actually believe that crap.
Now we have zealots who think that if the country collapses, they'll be put in charge by orderly militias and allowed to execute their "liberal" opponents by flinging bibles at them as the gold standard is reinstated before their dying eyes.
