Speaking of, remember Ariel Castro, the guy who held those three women captive in Cleveland for years (which BTW would have been perfectly legal with slaves)? They were being held about a mile and a half away from the last stop on the Cleveland branch of the Underground Railroad. So close to freedom all that time.
