He just raises his hand using his forearm while leaving his upper arm lowered. I dunno what school this guy went to but in mine raising your hand involved raising your whole arm.

I will say, the kinect is a paperweight unless your living room is huge. Try playing that awful, awful Rise of Nightmares game. Better yet, don't. Especially if you live upstairs from someone.
