Will this be the movie so pretentious that no number of Seth Rogan comedies will rehab Franco's image?
yogarfield - 2014-01-25
probably, but it won't stop them from trying.

and i think it writes itself from there. and seriously, why couldn't these two just stop at freaks and geeks?

James Franco also adapted "As I Lay Dying" from the Faulkner novel last year and it looks like it has the exact same shitty cinematography.

This Is The End was a rehab movie?

StanleyPain - 2014-01-25
This looks terrible. Child of God could make a damn good movie in the right hands with the right tone, but jesus this is awful.
TheOtherCapnS - 2014-01-26
I'm not sure what is pretentious about this. It just seems like a trailer for a run of the mill, crappy thriller, which is a shameful thing to do to such a good book.

Maybe the upside of this will be that it satisfies Franco's urge to adapt McCarthy stories and he will leave Blood Meridian the fuck alone.

Never read the book, but thought The Road movie was dull and pointless. Was it a bad adaptation or am I just an idiot? The question has been eating at me.

TheOtherCapnS - 2014-01-26
It definitely wasn't as good as the book

While I was registering for classes at UCLA this quarter, I saw one called "Breaking Rad: The Golden Age of Longform Serialized Drama" or something to that effect. It was the hardest I've ever been at a course listing, but I found it kind of strange I was registering nearly a month late and there were 20-something spaces available in such an clickbaitably named class.

Then I looked at the instructor's name: FRANCO, J.

Yup. Him.

Shows where my headspace is that my first thought was "Jesus Franco? But isn't he dead?"

SDC, what are you taking there?
UCLAX or regular courses?

That guy is going to rape you.

That guy - 2014-01-27
UCLA had a "rape walk" many years ago and it wasn't a charity event. It was a very unlit part of the just-off-campus area with a lot of bushes to jump out of or drag into.

JBF would have loved it.

That guy: I'm a full-time English undergrad. What's 54 Evil?

That guy - 2014-01-28
Ah ok, never mind. I thought you were looking at a cluster of courses I'd taken. I was going to give you the heads up on good ones and bad ones.

Well that trailer gave away every scene. Now I don't have to watch it so five stars, and thank you.

when doing cormac mccarthy start with your DP.

unless it's beautiful, it isn't mccarthy.
