The victory theme sounds like the whoever did the music liked the show The Equalizer.

"It was really good"

the related video, "personal nightmare (amiga) - death scenes" deserves to be here as well.

Let me get this straight.

A witch gets her hand cut off and she curses your family.

So you go back in time.

Instead of saving her and thus preventing the curse you join the mob and tear her apart before she can open her mouth and utter the curse.

Is that pretty much it?

Sexy Duck Cop - 2014-01-29

well she was kind of a bitch

SolRo - 2014-01-30

doing nice things causes a paradox (see Time Machine) so time travelers can only commit murder in the past.

Nominal - 2014-01-30

Bitch woulda just cursed someone else!

Seriously though, at no point does she present a threat. You can't even quickly dispatch her! Poison acid spray -> hand chop -> crossbow to the eye(!) -> throat slit. And the cheery music to celebrate it!

It's like Ash taking out a deadite that was just minding its own business, and just as hilarious without meaning to be.

and Richard Garrot praises you for it all.

No seriously, is that really Richard Garrot?

oddeye - 2014-01-30

No, it's Lord British.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-01-30

I thought it was some dude from Myst.

This is actually a really cathartic part of the game. Imagine if so many other insanely difficult, tedious adventure games of the 1990s let you mutilate the fuck out of the main villain at the end into a gory death with upbeat music.

Not that Waxworks is bad, per se. It's actually a pretty good, atmospheric game for the time, much better than most "horror" games going around at the time, but it could be frustrating in that retro way that so many games around this time were. So, taking the relics from each level and using them on the witch at the end is actually kind of a nice "Ahh..now I feel better" moment.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-01-30

I love this game. I remember seeing stills of it when I was really young and just being TERRIFIED by it. It still reminds me of my cousin's computer in the basement and being scared that something would grab me.

Sanest Man Alive - 2014-02-01

I'm surprised this wasn't already here. That victory music was my ringtone for years.
