This thing was really, painfully boring. Also, there's a scene where Joaquin literally chews the scenery. Which gave me hope for a minute that it was a meta-film about pretension, but then, no, back to the painful deep hurting of the boredom.

The Comedy isn't really a meta-film on that level, I would say. It's just a movie about what it's like to get older and still cling to a lifestyle based around irony and insincerity and what it looks like to the world around you.
