I am in the minority when I say like James Franco's ironic pornographer phase as what it is.
But I only have room for one James Franco in my shriveled, black, post-post-modern heart.

This is the first time I've watched something with Shia TheBeef in it and haven't hated it! Keep it up, kid!

I really don't keep up with celeb news at all, is there some kind of backstory to this, or did he just decide to go for it one day?
He was caught plagiarizing a Daniel Clowes story and then announced he was retiring from public life.
He plagiarized the story and MADE IT INTO A MOVIE, then when caught he also plagiarized his heartfelt apology statement. Then he decided to hide.
And now he's having a stylized public meltdown a la Joaquin Phoenix.
Agreed. Hopefully the last phase of this involves eating shit and dying.
Rodents of Unusual Size
He also tried to contact the author and apologize, via skywriting and email.
Also, I am 100% sure that he is bipolar and desperately needs the help of a mental health professional and it hurts me to see him on public display ala Britney losing his shit.
I like how he skywrote the apology in the wrong city. The question in my head is is, most of Daniel Clowes' work is pretty real, and I don't read a lot of it, but most of it seems like kind of a rip off of Love and Rockets, just a little more realistic. I was also a cynnical boy with only a few friends growing up in a "weird" city and wrote down what I saw, and wanted to leave. If I wrote a book about my childhood would I be accused of plagarizing Ghost World?
If the names and situations were the same, that's of course a different story. I don't really know because he took down the movie, but I encountered people like Ghost World's Seymour all the time at the convenience store I worked at in high school (and people like the mullet guy). Like most people, I connected with the book and the movie because it was "so much like my own life" and not like superhero or rockstar movies.
I'm not defending LaBeouf for what he obviously did, but I feel sorry for him because he's stuck in this "I'm a guy and I hate him because my girlfriend loves him more than me" mentality and the "I'm a critic and he stars in shitty action movies" mentality. If he wanted to break free, I'd say "go for it, you're a human." It worked for Ryan Gosling, also a child of the Disney era (btw Only God Forgives wasn't exactly what I'd call an original idea either, they just dodged around that one with sparse dialogue and few character names.)

Oh. It's Hal.
Whats up, hal?

LaBoef reminded me of a poor man's John Cusack, much in the same way that Christian Slater was a poor man's Jack Nicholson. Perhaps we're in for a similar career trajectory here.

He went on twitter and said he is retiring from all public life.
Which is for the best when you are this mentally ill.
He's a celebrity that just saw their career and insulating bubble of stardom go POP in a spectacular fashion. Whether or not this is mental illness depends on what he does from here and if he's blown all his money or not.

I'm sure half of those waiting in line were there because there was a line.

I had a hard time deciding who was more annoying: LaBeouf or the interviewer guy. At least LaBeouf didn't say anything.
Rodents of Unusual Size
For hours I have been unable to get the image of a staring Shia LaBeouf out of my head.
It's reminding me of a David Lynch scene. Only LaBeouf could never act his way into a Lynch movie.
This is truly his best role.
The interviewer guy is worse. - stars for him.
The interviewer guy made me chuckle in this: http://youtu.be/JpyK6Ojnl-0
This video, on the other hand, is horrible cringe-worthy shit, but I gave it 5 just because YOLO!

He's even plagiarizing the Unknown Comic from the look of it!

Considering he has a face and name that just cause me to want to smack him really hard, and that he acted in Transformers playing the most bumbling fool of an action hero that history has witnessed, the guy managed to truly come around in my book with some pretty good roles in some solid films.
Basically, as of recent, I really wanted to hate him, but he still came out looking like a pro in several movies.
I really don't have much to say about the plagiarism situation, as I don't know enough about it and I don't care, and this performance-art type meltdown or mockumeltdown seems fucking boring and stupid, but if he just sticks to acting he's all right in my book.
YOU HEAR THAT SHIA, I USED TO HATE YOU BUT YOU'RE ALL RIGHT IN MY BOOK!
Now, I've shared my shitty opinion with "the world", I can go back to watching videos of kittens and Russians maiming themselves.

He's plagiarising Yoko Ono now
