infinite zest - 2014-03-01 I never understood the appeal of this show. It was usually on after the Simpsons if I recall, so sometimes I'd catch the first couple of minutes because I'd record the Simpsons on VHS, or at least catch commercial bumps for it.
A bunch of white people in one of the richest zip codes in the country, dealing with- as far as I know- petty bullshit. Dylan did drugs and crashed on his motorcycle and is in the hospital! Lisa got pregnant and doesn't know if she wants to have an abortion. AIDS. That sure sucks for Dylan; his motorcycle riding days are over, and it sucks for the rest of the gang, but that's on like EVERY SITCOM EVER!
So instead of a decent show that can be funny and teach valuable life lessons (Family Ties, Growing Pains, even Home Improvement).. teens are left with a show about teens who are mostly in their 20s (or in the case of that one chick, I think early 30s) which is unfunny and glamorizes a lifestyle that few will ever have the opportunity to experience.
