Does this mean we can submit Breaking Bad clips again? Or is the Internet officially at that phase where we have to pretend it hated it all along?

According to the hopper, username "deadpan" thinks Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy was shit from the beginning, Lord of the Rings was always terrible even back in 2001, and he called the ending of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man six years before the movie came out.

Here's the real issue: Batman's been around since the 30's. For almost 60 years, the best non-comic Batman you had was Adam West. Twenty years later, the best Batman we had was Burton, and before you defend Batman '89, watch it again. Those movies have aged terribly. Batman Begins was the first Batman anything to fire on all cylinders, treating the material like an actual story with all the sincerity it deserves. Nolan wasn't trying to be Todd McFarlane and slice us open with his edge. He was just taking a powerful idea seriously. He wanted to explore actual implications behind a bizarre scenario, one whose absurdity we've taken for granted. The Internet calls it "dark and gritty," but I call it being an adult.
Same deal with LotR. It took about 70 years to produce anything beyond Bakshi's awkward hotpants infomercial, and the result is a work of fucking art. Oh, Return of the King had too many endings? SO WHAT. You just watched a near-flawless, 10-hour adaptation of the sprawling epic people had labeled "unfilmable" since Adolf Hitler marched across Europe. That is amazing! You should be grateful to have seen it! Imagine the generations of Tolkein fans that lived and died never having seen their favorite story treated with respect. Do you have any idea how breathtaking the battle of Helm's Deep would've been to readers in the 50's?
Or The Matrix. I'll be honest, I didn't like the first movie, but everyone else did. Which is fine. I understand its appeal but there too many dumb things for me to ignore. Except those same people suddenly were on my side all along, because by the time Revolutions came out, EVERYONE had hated Matrix from the start. The trenchcoats were stupid and the names were pretentious and hey that philosophy is kind of shallow. Now that it's over, I have noticed these things.
Spider-Man!!! Do you have any idea how excited people were to see Spider-Man on the big screen in 1999? Hint: VERY. And they didn't hide their love. Everyone loved Spider-Man in 1999. But come Spider-Man 3, not only did they hate the third film, they retroactively hated the original, Evil Dead II, and Sam Raimi's mother for giving birth to that fucking hack.
Now Breaking Bad's over, and I can't help but notice the 500% increase in oh-so-edgy contrarians who, apparently, thought the show was total garbage from the beginning but waited six years to share their opinion for no reason.
I don't wanna be one of those people, so I'll say it now before it's too late: Mad Men is boring as hell.
Side note: Yeah, I agree that Nolan's combat sucks, but that's an issue I have with virtually every movie ever made ever. I did MMA for about 7 years, and while I don't expect movie fights to be hour-long hugfests, I can't stand the choppy, wild-haymaker/giant block/wild haymaker/double hammerfist to the back bullshit that filmmakers think constitutes human combat. So it's hard to blame Nolan for that.
I guesss the first LOTR movie was pretty good.

Don't pretend the battle of Helms Deep didn't make you feel like a kid again. Admit it. It was amazing.
I'm with Zircon. I enjoyed the first LOTR film. The other two bored me out of my mind.
I actually know someone who is being a "breaking bad was never good" contrarian right now. It is so hard to talk to people who decide to hate something because it was popular or hyped up.
Sexy Duck Cop
Those people are insufferable. If a popular show or movie isn't your thing, that's cool, but don't pretend it has no value just because of a handful of plot holes and some lazy snarking. I think Mad Men is the most boring show in human history, but I can't pretend it's worthless trash just because it's not for me.
I'd be ok with a remix of just Hank's laughing.
