Quad9Damage - 2014-03-28 Yes, but American censors and advertisers tend to be squeamish when it comes to kids and subject matter that in any way at all depicts bad things that happen in the real world. A lot of Degrassi: TNG was snipped and scrubbed up for TeenNick before crossing the border, which is surprising when you consider what got left in.

CONTEXT (Based on memory):
The shooter is a psychotic rageaholic who was physically and verbally abusive to his ex-girlfriend Terri, a fat girl whose head he ultimately shoved into a rock. Terri fell into a coma and upon waking, apparently transferred to another school without anyone ever really mentioning it. Spinner, a "bully with a heart of gold" type of character, beat the living shit out of the shooter and sent him packing. Tears and sad music ensued.
The shooter returns to school after satisfactorily completing anger management, but because he nearly murdered Terri, the students all hate and torment him. Spinner especially has a grudge against the psycho geek and pulls off a Carrie-esque revenge by dumping paint all over the shooter's head. The shooter retreats to a bathroom stall to cry, and Spinner, knowing psycho geek is holed up in there, exchanges some fake boasting about how the whole paint can plan was Jimmy's idea.
What Spinner doesn't know is that the shooter brought a gun to school that day. The vengeful monster, his rage fully reawakened, promptly plugs fleeing Drake in the back. The shooter then points his gun at Emma, the school's resident environmentalist/receiver of social disease from drug dealer's cum either before or after this. Emma's ex-boyfriend Sean jumps in and grapples with the psycho, culminating in Sean accidentally capping the shooter in the torso and killing him.
Jimmy survives but his confined to a wheelchair, which complicates his aspirations for basketball. A guilt-ridden Spinner eventually confesses that his lie inadvertently got Jimmy's spine destroyed. Jimmy, like a good buddy, repeats this confession to everyone and the entire school spitefully turns against Spinner because that's part of Degrassi's code of conduct, I guess. At the point where I stopped watching the show, the opening credits show Spinner glancing forlornly through window glass at all the former friends who now hate him.
