Actually, if she did make it through the physical challenge, she's most likely miscarry, so everybody wins!

I don't know how true it is, but I've heard that those transvaginal ultrasound's are having the opposite effect of what Jesus wants. Women see a little blob, not a baby shaped blob, and feel a lot better about having them disposed of.

oddeye - 2014-03-29

It's a tough issue and not one I am completely qualified to talk on since I'm hella man BUT maybe it makes women think of the fetus in the same way I think of my blasted uberspunk.

The Mothership - 2014-03-29

All is dark and bleak. Are we dead? Or is this Ohio?

oddeye - 2014-03-29

Mike Polk is great.

I read a few supreme court cases for a bioethics class a while ago. Transvaginal ultrasounds seem pretty obviously in conflict with the 'undue burden' standard. Has the court moved on this since Casey? Or is this just a case of 'we know this is unconstitutional, but we'll do it anyway until you make us stop'?

(a) To protect the central right recognized by Roe while at the same time accommodating the State's profound interest in potential life, see id., at 162, the undue burden standard should be employed. An undue burden exists, and therefore a provision of law is invalid, if its purpose or effect is to place substantial obstacles in the path of a woman seeking an abortion before the fetus attains viability.

it's win/win for shitty politicians.

if it sticks, they get their anti-abortion thing to trot out for fundies. If it's overturned they dust off the frivolous lawsuits/activist judges shtick for the other retards.

Binro the Heretic - 2014-03-30

I know this video is supposed to be a joke, but I swear I read somewhere there was some group of assholes who tried to make buying a set of baby clothes a requirement for getting an abortion.

Not too long ago, I would have passed that off as bullshit, but these days, who knows?

TeenerTot - 2014-03-30

Yup.
