I think sam is the least funny of the 3 MDE guys.

Sam is very amusing, but not in the way he intended. He's the thirty-something version of A-log; jobless, homeless, addicted to video games, and kinda dirty looking, BUT HEY he's a professional troll so that means he's really one of the cool kids... right? Like Nick Bravo pretending to be Sean Baby or something.

His ED article (which he seems to have written himself) sums up his own self-delusions quite nicely.

He's a completely unlikable slug. He also likes to make AIDS jokes, which isn't funny and is in especially bad taste.

It was a Kickstarter to fund a project to make fun of Kickstarter, run by a dude who thinks caring about the environment/society/black people is mockworthy and supported by people whose comments on the page included "Kickstarter is garbage" and "white pride worldwide."

It wasn't technically against the rules, but KS can suspend your project if they don't like the face you make when you come if they want to. Sam Hyde being a shit person with shit fans was probably all the reason they needed.

Kickstarter is plenty fucking ridiculous at times, and there are a ton of awful, pointless projects on there right now. But Sam's not clever enough to capitalize on anything other than screaming "kike" and calling girls fat.

Well, that's kinda mean of Kickstarter, if people want to pay this guy to make sexist jokes, I guess that's their business. But on the positive side, he didn't appear to be anywhere near his funding goals in the first place, so I guess nature is just sorting itself out.

Sort of a change of subject here, but does anyone have any advice on how to get started with Kickstarter? A friend of mine just finished a children's book and he needs money to cover printing costs; he's old and computer illiterate, so I offered to help him set up a Kickstarter page. His book is done and he only wants a few hundred dollars, so I figure, shit, with douchebags getting tens of thousands of dollars for bullshit off of Kickstarter, surely an elderly veteran who's won a few awards for his Native American artwork can get a nice children's book published?

I really liked the thing he did a few years ago where he lectured at a regional anime convention and when the context is right some of his standup video s can be pretty great, but I feel like a year or two ago it started to all get really, really redundant.
