Blame Walmart for selling mass produced consumer goods made of plastic and/or sugar or something. This is totally legit criticism of global consumer goods and the scramble for the bottom line.

If this had been about the unethical shortcuts taken to shave a few cents off the sale-tag and drive profits for shareholders, then yeah I would be right with you.

5 for stupidity.

SolRo - 2014-04-25

walmart drives the production of most of those products.

there's a lot of cheap plastic Chinese shit on ebay, but that stuff is produced in 10,000 unit batches...walmart orders in millions.

Discordia - 2014-04-25

HFCS != Sugar. Huge difference. No pun intended.

il fiore bel - 2014-04-26

Also I'm sure the Trop50 variety of Tropicana juice contains some (non-caloric) artificial sweetener with the naturally occurring sugar.

Xenocide - 2014-04-25

Even now, Walmart scientists are on the cusp of developing plastic sugar.

I get it

infinite zest - 2014-04-25

Which part? I got lost about halfway through. Spoil away if you need to.

THIS DUDE TOOK THE RED PILL AND PULLED BACK THE CURTAIN THAT HANGS OVER THE FACADE YOU CALL REALITY.

THINK YOU CAN HANDLE IT?

Binro the Heretic - 2014-04-26

Weak.

EvilHomer - 2014-04-26

Well, yes, plastic is a very popular material for use in packaging and the creation of household items, and sugar is quite common in foods. Perhaps next he could do an expose on glass and carbs?

These things are inexpensive because their manufacturers (and to some extent, consumers) do not have to pay the cost of remediation of their negative effects. It's like shitting on the floor instead of walking to the toilet because it saves timeas long as someone else cleans it up.

memedumpster - 2014-04-26

Eh, we all have plastic and radiation in our blood now, it's evolution. One in three of us will eat shit from cancer and the future moon humans will thank us for it.

ashtar. - 2014-04-26

This further reenforces my theory that memedumpster is a temporal adventurer/timecop.

EvilHomer - 2014-04-26

Diabetes, cancer, and garbage patches are all bad things. On the other hand, people in the West are no longer dying of famine or rutting about in filthy, empty hovels, accomplishments that would have been impossible without the twin bugbears, plastics and modern agribusiness. Nor is Walmart the only purveyor of plastic and sugar; as Pope Caius says, this is all of America, as well as most of Canada, Europe, and soon enough, China.

There are plenty of things wrong with Walmart. That they sell plastics and sugar (as well as many other things; it bears pointing out that the impression given by this video, that Walmart stocks nothing BUT plastics and sugar, is demonstrably false), is hardly a damning expose. It'd be like doing a video on the horrors of Chinese capitalism, and focusing the attention on how poorly dressed and fashion-backwards the Communist leadership is. Surely one can think of something better...!

oddeye - 2014-04-26

That's pretty much my feeling on it too. It would be nice if we worked towards finding a sustainable middle-ground between unethical, dangerous practices and everybody starving to death clothed in rags.

Singling out Walmart like it's Azmodeus when it's really just a Pit Fiend just weakens an otherwise valid argument. Also makes you look like a fuck-bastard idiot. Like SolRo.

il fiore bel - 2014-04-26

So Wal-mart is full of plastic and sugar? Yet he failed to film any of the consumers?

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-04-26

There's a band from the 90s called "The Sugarplastic". They're pretty great too!
