Oh wow, OK, who is this Damien Sandow guy? According to Wikipedia, his gimmick is that of a "grandiloquent pedant" (sounds like my kind of wrestler!), and he's clearly having a ton of fun doing this. Just going off this clip, he sort of reminds me of the fun, charming dislikability of Kurt Angle. Does he do stuff like this often? Is he utilized much by the WWE? Between Daniel Bryan and this fellow, it looks like the WWE may be pulling itself out of its John Cena rut, and if CM Punk comes back I might actually consider watching it!

EvilHomer - 2014-04-30 Also, not to be pedantic, but it's Magneto. Not Magnito.

Killer Joe - 2014-04-30 I tend not to be too careful with initial submissions, since I always have to go back and fiddle with the tags after its up due to some bug in the site. I also have front page privileges, so it's usually not an issue, but this sub went to the hopper for the suffrage of the rabble for whatever reason. I couldn't do nothin' till it came out the back end. I'll fix the tags, but the title will be a silent reminder of Magnito's folly.

EvilHomer - 2014-04-30 I thought you might have been making fun of Hugh Jackman's pronunciation, and I was like, that's not cool man. He's got a speech impediment: being Australian.

infinite zest - 2014-04-30
I'm not going to rate this, and apologies to anybody who I might offend here.. but I grew up believing wrestling was real, from Pacific Northwest Wrestling to WWF, until I was about 12 when the truth was revealed to me as if I learned that Santa Claus was not real. I was heartbroken and didn't pay attention to wrestling again until I matured enough to realize that it's an immense portrayal of not only physical acrobatic skills but of showmanship as well. Any professional wrestler can do more than two things I can't do very well: acting and performing feats of incredible strength and agility.
I could show this to a 3 year old and they'd immediately know it's fake.
|
EvilHomer - 2014-04-30 I don't know, the magnetism had me going there for a minute. If it's fake, how do you explain that?
But I wouldn't feel bad, not all wrestlers can act (Batista for example), and not all wrestlers can perform incredible feats (John Cena, who is immensely strong and in perfect shape, but is not very talented when it comes to doing actual moves). You could probably take either of them.

oddeye - 2014-04-30 God forbid anyone have some silly fun in a "sport" that mostly consists of sitting on each others faces.
|
oddeye - 2014-04-30 Also, this could have been a time when Wolverine didn't have metal on his bones, did you ever consider that?? Check your fucking FACTS first before you badmouth the authenticity of this amazing sport. Ram that down your peehole you little birch.
|
Riskbreaker - 2014-04-30 Real sports: anything that involves a bunch of millionares kicking or throwing a ball to each other. With loooong periods of nothing happening in between.
Real fun sports: Wrestling
|
spikestoyiu - 2014-04-30 Riskbreaker, if you ignore the fans (like all sports, I guess), then MMA is really great. There are very few millionaires mostly due to Dana White's love of Ferraris and it's guys (and some girls) just beating each other up. It's not as fun as pro wrestling but it's pretty fun.
|
EvilHomer - 2014-04-30 At the risk of sounding like an MMA-uber-dork, it was a lot more fun in the early days, before everyone figured out the best strategy to win. The early UFCs, where you'd see Street Fighter type matchups between sumo wrestlers and kung fu guys, were awesome AND entertaining. Now it's just match after match of dorks spamming God Tier characters like Iori and Kyo.
I love Royce Gracie, he's a childhood hero and a better man than I, but the ground game sorta ruined the spectacle.
|
Riskbreaker - 2014-04-30 I like MMA, fully agree with the crowd that follows it being annoying, which also applies to many other "serious" sports. Is also safe to say that most wrestling fans are aware of wrestling being a peformance. So, anybody coming to them with the cliche "U KNOW IS FAKE RITE?" is just wasting their time.
I'm not going to say there are no crazy obnoxious fanboys in wrestling as well, but answer me this: when was the last time a riot began during a wrestling match? I like soccer as well, but it's a sport that attracts some of the worst human beings i ever had the "luck" of meeting. It wouldn't be such an issue if it wasn't for the clubs actually filling their stadiums with such trash. Say what you want about WWE and wrestling in general, but these companies usually have zero tolerance towards crazy fanboys doing stupid shit in the middle of a show.
|
EvilHomer - 2014-04-30 IIRC, the ECW had a few riots, but most of them were probably works.
|
spikestoyiu - 2014-04-30 I simply cannot get into wrestling these days (despite spending much of the late 90s and early 2000s as a fan), but the "U KNOW IS FAKE RITE?" crowd is infinitely more embarrassing than any full grown adult who may own a John Cena shirt or something. Basically they're worse than any actual pro wrestling fan who should "know better".
Also, Royce changed my life and that is not an exaggeration.

oddeye - 2014-04-30 He was a double agent, all his anti-america angles were simply false flags.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-04-30
Well that was easy.
