The Physics of Pop Culture Reference has been around for decades. The A of B format attempts to take people who are completely hostile to learning A and tricking them into learning A by dressing it up as B. It doesn't work. Video games wont teach you game theory (I'm looking at you, worthless StarCraft professor), fanfiction wont teach you literature, and The Physics of Game of Thrones wont teach you anything except how to throw money at a franchise.

Education is damned near dead, because ignorance has two political parties, sixteen world religions, and three hundred book deals a month.

Anyways. the Physics of Game of Thrones wouldn't work, because there's not much physics in the series. The Physics of Star Wars or the Physics of Superheroes, that might teach you something, at least as an intro course or as an enrichment class for art, English, or philoso-fags. Fanfiction may not be the best way to learn traditional literary theory, but Lit is all soft subject bullshit anyway, so who cares? And I'd argue that education is not so much dead, as it is stillborn. Its corpse might smell a bit more rank than it used to, but dead is dead, and you can't die more if you've died already.

There's a "The Philosophy of The Matrix/Halo/Simpsons/GoT/Superfister69" book for every major franchise. I don't know who buys them. Luckily, academic philosophers are generally too arrogant and self important to actually use them in the classroom.
