I'm just going to blame tumblr for this and call it a day.
TRIGGER WARNING: Calling it a day.
As a trigger, I personally object to your negative depictions and appropriation of trigger culture by those words Xenocide.

Anarchist Conference Devolves Into Anarchy - come on, is that so hard?
...devolves into itself
baleen - 2014-05-13
Embarrassing. Glad I don't live there anymore.
You lived in an anarchist conference?
heh. Remember when Bush called it "Little Beiruit?" Baleen you lived in Portland? Or did we already have this conversation and I forgot due to a cocktail of rainier beer and falling off my fixie
Also this isn't "Chaos" this is pretty low grade civil disobedience compared to the WTOs and everything else I experienced in Portland and Seattle. Even the alcohol-fueled riots in Madison It's a mantra. Call the cops and everybody scatters
I lived in Portland and dated an anarchist even. Like she slept in the compound and went to Wobbly events and crap like that.
So you must have some hairy scabies or some permanent disfigurement to show for it. Share because we care.
I date an anarchist on and off who's also a militant vegan who doesn't deny getting super baked and taking the cheese off of pizza: This is a perfect example of people doing a "mantra" for something they don't understand completely: In that case, I went along to the annual animal rights parade where they boycott the Nordstroms, the Fur store that I think is closed down, the Macy's that used to be Meyer and Franks, and I kind of came along because I just thought she wanted company, and felt like holding hands.
I'm vegan because if something looks at me and is aware of me, and I'm aware of them.. stuff like that but I don't care if people eat what they like. So I had to learn these mantras about things like "anal electrocution" all these experiments, horrible stuff really, but it was just like "ok.. memorize these things. When I say 'what do we want' you say 'blank.' So everyone memorized these 5 or 6 mantras, and then the leader shouts into her PA "WHY ARE WE HERE?"
..silence.. then laughter. Goddamnit Portland. Smith Hall used to be the place we'd congregate for serious discussion, not just the place where I pretend I'm a student for free condoms.. The times they are a something or other.
Jet Bin Fever
You guys should really be more careful about the places you stick your penis.
I spent some time in the Pacific Northwest back in my early post-college 20s, some of it in Portland and uh, while I never dated an anarchist chick I did see those sort of people around and knew a few. The few I came to know were total anuses. One of these creatures was a total mooch who when he wasn't busy leeching off 'friends' and crashing on their couches would attend anarchist events dressed up as some sort of anarchist Emmet Kelly-ish hobo clown.
He also had an aversion to employment and openly mocked and sneered at people who had jobs and earned money - he launched into a barely coherent tirade at one of my friends when she talked about her bookstore job, about how she was a 'slave' and so forth - what a douche.
I lived next to an anarchist house / mini-commune in Seattle, they were actually pretty great neighbors.
They generally are. They help neighborhoods, overall. They help poor people. They stop houses from being foreclosed from banks. The good anarchists are good, the bad anarchists are whiney. I'm not a fan of the cultish, collectivist vibe of the anarchist community. I wouldn't fit in.

WORDS I READ SOMEWHERE THAT MEAN STUFF!!!! #THINGSISORTAREMEMBERFROMTHATONECOLLEGECOURSE
yeah I know. I grew up more-or-less across the street from Reed. When I was a kid I'd walk around the nuclear reactor, chamber music northwest was outside and it was free, and even Ren Faire was a fun way for students to cut loose, so to speak. In a 1960s where the draft was breathing down most larger colleges' institutions Reed must have been quite a ministry.

"Anarchist Conference Devolves Into Chaos"
Or as I would put it, "Anarchist Conference A Rousing Success".
It's pretty much what one would want to happen, yes. Should they be following Roberts Rules Of Order? I would be disappointed.
Anarchist convention renting out hotel conference room... Brain... Hurt

Yay google. Backstory; http://www.kristianwilliams.com/2014/05/11/at-law-and-disorder-may -2014/
You might check out his original essay that triggered this protest. It's like these people set out to prove everything he said was true.
Thank you for the links, they were very hilarious. Juggalos are closer to being supernatural justice wizards for a transcendental state of carnal punishment of wrongdoing in the form of a travelling spectacle of the saved and the damned than these guys are to, say, Kropotkin, or Proudhon.
Perhaps if they were made of Stirner stuff?
Rodents of Unusual Size
PegLegPete, I completely agree. I just read the article and it would be logical to counter an argument with a coherent argument, instead they just proved him right by proclaiming to the world their own incapability of forming an argument.
memedumpster - 2014-05-13
Couldn't they have all signed a limited contract and agreed to enforce it to get along and follow Robert's Rules, at least for the meeting? I have yet to read an anarchist that didn't love the EULA concept of self-governing. How did they miss that?
So..., when are they going to talk about Law, the State, and Property?
John Holmes Motherfucker
There's a whole lot about this that I don't understand, but one thing I do understand is that these people came to the conference with an agenda to disrupt, so a limited contract would not have served their ends.
Rodents of Unusual Size
What I've noticed about anarchists is that almost all of them have emotional rage issues, and most of them just want the excuse to scream about it in public and get applauded for it.
That's pretty much the entire social justice movement.
Or at least the tumblr variety.
That and there's a lot of internecine slap-fighting going on and today's "ally" can easily become tomorrow's denounced enemy of the movement over trivial fluff.

It's like someone took the most aggravating people from Occupy, who didn't know anything other than they liked to shout at people because they have personal issues, formed a group, that group became a cult, and that cult accused people trying to help others deal with police presence of violence.
What I want to know is what bullshit excuse they have of this accusation of violence. What, did someone tell you that you are as dumb as you actually are? VIOLENCE!
Addendum: I don't believe these people know what violence is.

Yellers conference for standing up and yelling about stuff so people can hear you yelling.
fluffy - 2014-05-14
So it sounds like what they want is to have some sort of system of rules that will allow them to stay safe from people who might violate their intrinsic human rights. I wonder what sort of thing might exist to facilitate that.
Of course, one thing they'd need in order to maintain that would be some sort of neutral third party which can evaluate both sides of an issue and then make a decision as to what should happen in order for society to be preserved. Such things would probably take a lot of resources, which would require funding of some sort, but you couldn't trust such things to remain fair and impartial if, for example, the members of the complaint party were to finance it, nor would that work for people who simply don't have the funds to raise a complaint, so there would have to be some sort of larger system that exists to disburse funds that are collected for the purpose of maintaining the elements that are beneficial to everyone.
But I certainly can't imagine what any of these things might be.

Wait, what did they think would happen?
