I didn't know those scenes existed.
My mind is blown.
Fire Walk With Me's original cut was something like almost 3 hours before New Line cut it down. The cut footage (and possibly a directors cut) was long rumored to have been a project of Lynch's for DVD, but New Line had some kind of legal bullshit issues and the deleted stuff has never seen the light of day. There was a big fan push for it when the first (excellent) DVD box set of Twin Peaks was released and Lynch approved the transfers, but even then the re-release of FWWM was still without the cut material.
So this is a pretty big deal, and Lynch is directly involved in it too (with reliable rumor that he filmed new material for this blu-ray box set, possibly new episode intros or something like that).
Stanley- he did indeed film new material for this. I forget the title, but it's a two-part thing with Lynch, as Lynch, interviewing first the Palmer family and second the actors who played them. Weird, wonderful shit.

Now let's get the full, 6 hour cut of Wim Wenders' Until the End Of the World.

...and the missing 90 minutes or so of Michael Mann's "The Keep".

I'll watch it. I'll probably regret it on some level, but I'll watch it.

I sort of hated "Fire Walk With Me", even though I was so crazy about Twin Peaks that I saw it twice in the theater and eventually owned a DVD. It was painful to see actors who looked like they were nearing 30 playing high school students, and the pain was intensified by seeing them in close up on the big screen.
And what was the point? Some of the details were interesting, but it was an obsessive retelling of what was already known. So I don't think I'm going to regret seeing this. It may be the redemption of the movie I'd hoped to see 20 years ago. But I got nothing to lose.
It's weird that this should surface now, as I have just started reacquainting myself with the old episodes on Hulu for the first time in 20 years, and two days ago, just for the hell of it, I actually googled "Twin Peaks sequel" to see if anything would come up. As recently as 2014, there had been rumors, but Lynch and Frost had both denied it.
My dream Twin Peaks sequel would involve the ghost of Laura Palmer returning from the White Lodge to fight Bob, who has continued killing in the
person of Dale Cooper, retired to twin Peaks since the mid nineties. Laura could take the body of Donna Hayward's daughter. Donna Hayward could be played by the horrifying plastic surgery disaster that is Lara Flynn Boyle. Perfect for Twin peaks.
The thing that intrigues me the most about this new footage is that maybe Annie Wilkes didn't die in the Black Lodge, though she sure looks fucked up.
