I don't get what is up with dollar stores and this sort of thing. The store where I work is right next to a Dollar General and those employees will fucking chase down people for taking a 50 cent lighter and shit like that and it just seems like a whole lot of effort and risk for nothing. People have run out of where I work with 0 headphones and shit and we could give a fuck. I've had a gun and knife pulled on me just for witnessing some shithead stealing something...no way I'm going to chase someone desperate enough to steal dollar store clothes out into the parking lot.
The reason they run them down is because working at the dollar store is the most dignified job they have or could hope to have and they live in and come from a culture of uneducated hopelessness and soul crushing poverty. They also believe that, in a more cosmic sense, they are the good guys and that they are creating a better life for the people in their communities.
