Surprisingly? Everyone knows that John K. is a talentless degenerate swine.
misterbuns - 2014-07-10
he's an annoying jerk who hasnt made anything good in a while, but saying he is talentless or pretending he didnt influence animation in a big way is a pretty outsider, armchair attitude.

WHAT

teethsalad - 2014-07-10
just shut the fuck up already

Pillager - 2014-07-10
Good or bad, His influence is still being felt today. A lot of modern cartoons I enjoy wouldn't exist without Ren & Stimpy paving the way.

I feel like saying John K is shit based on things like this is like saying Justin Roiland is shit based on the early Doc and Marty (aka lick my balls) or the Unmarketables, pretty much everything on Channel101.

I only caught one episode of the new Ren and Stimpy show and thought it was horrible: it took everything that made R&S my favorite cartoon growing up, like the "gross" but still safe for Nickelodeon and the ambiguously homosexual undertones, and turned it into straight-up gross and violent and overtly gay in a way that was trying to be funny but came off as homophobic. It was like if Pen Ward decided to make an Adventure Time for Adult Swim.. just wouldn't work.

So I might not like this either but 5 stars for what Pillager said.

infinite zest - 2014-07-10
I think my dad got a bigger kick out of R&S than I did (it was the one show we'd watch together without mom knowing..) I really didn't know much about animation outside of Ducktales and Transformers, so a lot of the Tex Avery style humor and style was completely lost on me. When he's on point, John K channels said style perfectly.

Also these are little Flash animations, the equivalent to something like Life in Hell vs. The Simpsons (there I said it: Life in Hell hasn't been funny since The Simpsons began)

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-07-10
You should read interviews with John K. if you think he's a talented, well-rounded individual who would be pleasant to work with. Ren and Stimpy (the Nickelodeon episodes) was only good because he had a team that essentially steered him away from the rocks time and time again. Those adult cartoons he made with those characters were just beyond terrible. The guy is a creep and stole a lot of his best ideas from far better animators.

giygusattack - 2014-07-10
Does anyone like the Adult Party cartoons? Firedogs 2 and Altruists still make me laugh.

EvilHomer - 2014-07-10
Whether he's a creep or not is hardly relevant! Caravaggio was a colossal dick, many times worse than John K, yet no one would claim that his horrible attitude invalidates the brilliance of his paintings.

As for taking idea from other animators, well, so what? "Shoulders of giants" and all that. No artist operates in a vacuum; everyone builds on the work of someone who has gone before. Tezuka built on the works of Walt Disney. Bill Watterson owed a lot to George Herriman. David Bowie was directly inspired by the sound of clogged toilets flushing. And so on. The point is, every takes something from someone else; this is natural, and not a strike against Mr K.

"The guy is a creep and stole a lot of his best ideas from far better animators."

At the same time he accused the "South Park" guys of stealing the idea for Mr. Hankey from his own "Nutty the Friendly Dump". Similar ideas to be sure, but it also seems like something Parker and Stone might come up with. One thing's for sure, Parker and Stone were much more tasteful and reserved in their handling of the character.

There is no amount of insult you can heap upon John K's head that he doesn't repeat to himself daily. The man lives in his own damnation.

Racketeer - 2014-07-11
John K. helped make it so cartoons didn't have to be toy commercials to get airtime. I don't go for the grossout stuff myself, but I'm fine with actually caring about the finished product.

The clown faces made me smile.

Now that's a sentence you don't often have cause to type.

Five just to see if Jet Bin Fever will go off again.
Jet Bin Fever - 2014-07-10
ahh I'm fine. I don't do the wall of text comment war shit.

Gmork - 2014-07-10
Ren and stimpy "adult party" was the worst animated thing ever made besides maybe that shitty movie about a luchadore wrestler that keeps showing up on netflix.

EvilHomer - 2014-07-10
Gmork - Which one? Mucha Lucha or El Superbeasto?

Gmork - 2014-07-10
BOTH! Actually I have no idea what mucha lucha is. Fragments of memory indicate it is a children's show? El Superbeasto is exactly the fucking horrible movie I was thinking of, thank you.

EvilHomer - 2014-07-10
Mucha Lucha is a kid's show; I don't know much about it, except my ex used to think it looked cute. El Superbeasto is one of Rob Zombie's projects. I've never seen the movie, but I did have a few of the comics; I enjoyed them, but then, I was a big fan of Rob's work (White Zombie got me through much of middle school).

There's also Ultimate Muscle, the luchadore anime show, but I don't know if that's on Netflix.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-07-10
I'm all over the place with this. That thing with the furries was just so horribly mean-sprited , I thought I'd never like anything by this guy again, but this is good natured. I'm giving it five out of annoyance with the the people giving it one star, and also because I love anything with the Captain Kangaroo theme.

Spaceman Africa - 2014-07-10
Who is still allowing John K to do these things.
Gmork - 2014-07-10
STOP GIVING JOHN K MONEY.

.....I thought guys couldn't pee with a boner...?
EvilHomer - 2014-07-10
We can, it's just a very messy ordeal.

EvilHomer - 2014-07-10
(for the benefit of people who don't have penises, yes, this cartoon is an accurate description of pee boners. We don't usually touch tips, but everything else is 100% true)

cognitivedissonance - 2014-07-10
I can assure you pee boners are quite the extensive Xtube category.

That guy - 2014-07-11
um wut
I can't

wait are we pranking?

Gmork - 2014-07-11
If you can't pee when you have a boner, you might have something wrong with you. Maybe a narrow urethra?

EvilHomer - 2014-07-11
It partly depends on your level of arousal. Ass muscles clamp down during arousal, which in turns blocks off your bladder, making it harder to pee. Most successful pee boners are, at least in my experience, either morning wood boners or post-coital aftershocks. Peeing while in the grip of a raging mammoth boner is possible, but it's also quite painful, and it burns like an STD.

This cartoon was pretty funny, but an extra star to Homer for explaining how my body works to me.
