These right-wing assholes are not the base of the Israeli government. They do wield a disproportionate amount of power in much the same way as our far-right minority does; their influence comes from the fact that they are loud as fuck and never publicly compromise. The consequences of their actions are frighteningly far-reaching, but they're still a minority.
They ain't Israel, no more than Dick Cheney is America.
what you're describing is a base of a political party...it's the large portion of their voters that will always vote for the party, as long as the party is radical enough (see tea party split).
anti-war Israelis are very much the silent minority.

Will we ever find peace?!
That Jon Snow interview made me watch Welcome To Sarajevo last night. Some of the real life footage in that film is straight from ogrish, far stronger that anything in the documentaries I watched last year. The fact that people are living in former Yugoslavia without bloodshed, even just for a few years, is some kind of perverse hope for Israel and Palestine.
Cherry Pop Culture
Kamlem's posts make me want to cry. WTF is up with humans wanting to maim other humans? I can read and talk about it as much as I like and it *STILL* boggles my mind. A person has a fucking right* to not live in terror and fear.
*Policy void if you are blocking efforts of The Affordable Care Act

Guys, this conflict is spiraling out of control and deepening longstanding hatreds. I see no end in sight, and I'm filled with anxiety bordering on despair
But forget about POETV's comments, there's also this Gaza situation

This can only end well.
"Death to the Arabs! Death to the leftists!"
Does it not even occur to these people how much they sound like Nazis?
as the generations move further away from the holocaust, their ability to empathize with fellow man quickly turns into entitlement.
Many of them were not able to do so during the Holocaust nor after the Holocaust, which is why Zionism is now associated with these people and not Noam Chomsky's peaceful if naive collectivist Leftist Zionism or Martin Buber's Zionism of the spirit.
This attitude in Israel has been around since before the Balfour Declaration when Palestinian land owners were scheming and mugging Jewish renters from Europe. It didn't take long for Jews to come back with guns, and the escalation has been on a healthy death tangent ever since.
i cannot even imagine you believe that. holy fuck. you're the literal definition of hipster fascist neoliberal. evilhomer has nothing on you.
0 says you don't even know what the word "Zionism" means outside of a few episodes of Democracy Now.
You don't need to use all of those fancy buzzwords to explain Baleen since he's actually a very typical example of a leftist zionist. In other words, he's the Alan Dershowitz of poetv: sane on most issues, batshit insane on any issue that involves Israel.
I like how baleen can elaborate on three different versions of left Zionism, but not blink an eye a second later when he deploys old anti-Jewish slanders against the Palestinians.
where does that kind of immunity to irony come from?

I maintain that intense heat can make entire populations crazy. Case in point: New Mexico, Arizona, Florida, Texas, Mexico, All of the Middle East, Africa, Chicago in the Summer.
Or Bedstuy New York City. It just takes one really hot day to make you burn down the local pizzeria.
LA down to San Diego doesn't fare too bad.
The heat is mitigated by the abundant marijuana.
