Does anyone like the Torchwood miniseries (Children of Earth, Miracle Day, not that series, which I didn't like)? I do, and was wondering (from another fan, dammit), whether they think the American TV show Forever will have the same kind of heavy tone I came to appreciate from Torchwood. I am interested, because it seems the USA and the BBC are competing a lot now, and Russel T. refuses to give Torchwood closure with another miniseries, even though Stars wanted to really badly, but not without him.

Children of Earth was great, Miracle day was so-so at best, up toward 'not too bad' by the last one or two episodes.

I'd give another one a chance, were it to be made. I'd probably prefer it be done by the BBC rather than Stars, thank you.

memedumpster - 2014-07-28

I agree that Children of Earth was a way tighter, harder hitting series. I really did appreciate the character development in Miracle Day, though. The actors wanted a final miniseries or movie where they all eat shit and die horribly, which I think would make a very good conclusion for a band of heroes who have become violently impulsive survival junkies. "Moths to a flame" seems to be their number one cause of death.

They finally gave up on giving Torchwood a TV finale and are releasing some novels that are supposed to wrap everything up.

Anyway, Children of Earth is fantastic. Plus you get to see the 12th Doctor pretend to be a normal human and do some horrible horrible things.

Don't know anything about the Forever show, but Torchwood was hit and miss. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but it had some major flaws.

Miracle Day should have just been shorter, and everything Russel T. Davis does suffers from the fact he can't write endings.

memedumpster - 2014-07-28

Novels? That's lame. Damn words, the low budget way out.

I couldn't stand the weekly show. I close my eyes and all I can see is that Cyberwoman, barely clad, covered in barbecue sauce, punching a pterodactyl.

Syd Midnight - 2014-07-29

Torchwood was ultimately too emo for me, what with at least one major character dying every episode, sometimes more than once.

But I enjoy pretending that Torchwood and Dr Who share the same universe as the X-Files and the like, where the US is like "Hmm could there be alien life" and the UK is like "maybe, nobody knows, good thing you're in charge" and goes back to its secret centuries-old "wage war with aliens to protect the earth" project.

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-07-28

It cries out for the Seinfeld slap bass riff as he hits each punchline.

That preview image says it all. Look at that mans face. That is the face of a man who knows he is lying.

This video is kvetching in a thick New York accent for a neocon tag.

Toenails - 2014-07-29

The death toll in Gaza at over a thousand, while Israel is at 42. The problem is very simple: One side wants the other dead!

EvilHomer - 2014-07-29

So are any of the points he raised factually incorrect? If so, why?

SolRo - 2014-07-29

all of them.

because you're stupid and gullible.

EvilHomer - 2014-07-29

No, seriously. He raises a number of salient points, points which are often brought up by Jewish commentators, but almost never addressed maturely, rationally, or even directly, by their opponents.

I'm not telling you they must be right, I'm asking: can you refute them?

SolRo - 2014-07-29

Please tell me it's an act and you're not really so stupid.

Enjoy - 2014-07-29

EvilH: the left views the world not as "good and evil" but as "victims and oppressors." This video tells a factual account but it does not fit the left-wing narrative of victims and oppressors so therefore it must be wrong. The best approach is to attack Dennis Prager.

Hi. I take some land. England said it's okay, because I helped get America into war.

You don't like that? I take more land.

Why you being so aggressive with me still! FIIIIINE! I give back portion of the land I just took! Can leave me alone now?

What is problem?

DriverStabby - 2014-11-30

I mean, God sed land is mine. Why not believe me? I throw some rocks at schoolkids now. Now you see God wants it mine?
