The guy's name is "Cop Obyte", and he made a series of videos before his fellow Reddit users drove him off the internet. They're well worth watching, if you can find any archives!

I'm no programmer, but it checks the URL and then it looks at the description for anything similar to what's already on POETV. One is a no-brainer, and the other relies on user description (though it probably was hoped it would just be a copy-paste of the vid description on YT).

Short of installing some kind of module that compares frames of the videos in question, I'm not sure what else can be expected.
