"Remember the point in the movie when Riki-O went from silly to bonkers?"

I remember it happening a lot earlier than this.

Oh, Riki-oh.. like many people I was smoking weed and watching the Daily Show and had to figure out the context. I still have my VHS in my backpack!

If we have the entire movie here, I'm pretty sure that point is at 00:01

This is where it went from crazy to genius.

The manga it's based on, or rather the first story arc (to which this adaption was surprisingly faithful) manages to get even crazier, finding it's own way after starting off as a sort of Fist of the North Star-wannabe. Riki Oh attempts to track down his missing brother Nachi, and find clues to his past, while running into all sorts of weird stuff, including monsters, robots, cyborgs, and discovering the horrible truth his past, brother and their father.

Plus there's Riki Oh's catchphrase for when he's about to beat down on someone, translating into English as "I'LL SEND YOUR KARMA TO HELL!"

Yeah, there was an OAV too, but I don't think the ending was as epic..

Sanest Man Alive - 2014-08-10

In the manga, Riki also has a Star of David on the back of each hand. This is contrasted by his brother, who has swastikas on his hands (Nachi=Nazi) and is pure fucking evil. It's perfect really, since RIKI-OH already left subtlety bleeding out on the roadside three hundred miles back.

I forgot it was a manga, so I looked it up.
It's Fist of The North Star in mom jeans.
