I'll give it some credit. It made a lot of references to John Hughes at the risk of its target audience not understanding them. It gave us several scenes of Yellow Galaxy Power Ranger Cerina Vincent walking around topless. Molly Ringwald popped up at the end to cleverly break down how all these triumphant teenage characters probably crash and burn after the end credits.
But it still followed the proud 'Movie' tradition of "take this recognizable scene and add on shit/incest/pussy joke."
The "'Muffy' rhymes with 'Buffy'" joke had already been starved, skinned and beaten to death many times before this, as early as 1992's 'Muffy the Vampire Layer' porn parody or maybe even before that. That alone shows how this pilot was void of any effort whatsoever.
