Their web stuff is much more unrestrained and I think funnier than the actual TV show.

I didn't even know it was a TV show. A place I lived at got evicted and people kind of came and went, and someone left the shorts DVD behind. I was gonna curb it but I saw David Wain on the front. So I've had it for a long time but never bothered to look into it. I didn't have tv, but it seems like Comedy Central in the mid 2000s was a pretty bad place for anything creative, even if it inspired most of the shows they're so proud of now.

That said, they had a budget. The episode where they grow crops in their apartment and wind up as exploitative plantation owners is brilliant.
