I guess I'm not too surprised that people are doing this without thinking about it. I'd never have considered the prints my Makerbot makes to be even remotely suitable for this purpose though, but I'm also not prone to using this sort of thing in the first place so I never thought about it.

I know there are industrial 3D printers that print using sturdier materials, but I'll fully admit I am extremely skeptical that you could print something at home using what is essentially bonded plastic dust that could handle the pressure of, ahem, "insertion" into any bodily orifice.

I'm sure they'll work out the bugs soon.
