I used to hear this song on Dr. Demento as a kid. My friend who reminded me of it yesterday said "the band they used to be was the star spangled washboard band, a 'post-hippie humor jugband'"

Hahahaha thanks! I was trying to place where I had heard this before. Dr. Demento used to do live shows over at the college by my house growing up, which was also his alma mater. Besides the standard Weird Al and TMBG, he'd also play other stuff. I believe this was one of those.

Yeah, I'm still amazed by some of the stuff he played in btween the obvious things. Especially at his peak, when he was getting lots of demo tapes and one of a kind home recordings. I'm sure being exposed to that stuff at a young age is a big part of what completely ruined me for normal pop culture.
