This show came out at the perfect time for me. I was really into What a Cartoon, O Canada and Space Ghost and some thing called Adult Swim that would never work had just come out. The Mothmonsterman episode is still one of my favorite things ever. And Universal Remonster. The newer ones I've seen don't do it for me. But that second intro is pure awesome and reminds me of JJ Villard.

I'd like to see some of those other shows, like Aqua Unit Patrol Squad! I like the extra psychedelic animation in some of these.

This difference between the intro and the show was always a running joke for ATHF. No matter how different all these intros may look, it's all the same show.

That said, it's all worth watching. Lots of the episodes are on video.adultswim.com .

Some of the meta stuff about this show is genius..
For instance, they had *7 seasons* of a popular tv show "aqua teen hunger force" and then for season 8 changed the name of the show to "aqua unit patrol squad".. Then changed it every season. Also the only word that remains constant is "aqua" which is arguably the most nonsensical and meaningless one.

Also also the title of their film is "Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theater"

I didn't pay for the movie, but I did like the intro. The "we have your money now, no refunds" attitude was great, but I didn't finish the movie. For me, it's kind of like what seeing Deathklok live would be like. The music's amazingly spot-on, even more than Spinal Tap, but seeing a show where I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be laughing or following a story.. guess they just work best as 11 minute things.

I think I'm one of the few that liked the original formula of ATHF, where they did somehow solve a crime or mystery. It was almost like that lying housemate who tells you about his busy day when you ask and you assume he was just smoking weed and watching TV all day but have no proof. Maybe he was out there. But here he is, right where he was, 9 hours ago. As that part of the show sort of faded and it became mostly a feud between neighbors (and usually extraterrestrials), I guess I just.. I dunno.
